Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026

1. The service

Violation File is a service of Altshuler Family Holdings LLC. We process New York City public violation records (Department of Buildings, Environmental Control Board, and Housing Preservation and Development filings published through NYC Open Data) into readable building violation reports, trend charts, and new-filing alerts.

2. Not legal or professional advice

Violation File presents processed public records for due diligence and monitoring. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace your attorney, broker, or compliance counsel. We do not guarantee that records are complete or error-free; filings originate with the city and we present them as processed.

3. Plans and payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card statements show ALTSHULER FAMILY HOLDINGS with a Violation File descriptor. We never see or store your card number.

4. Cancellation and refunds

Monthly plans can be canceled anytime from your account billing settings or by emailing hello@violationfile.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; monthly plans are not prorated. Annual plans are refundable within the first 30 days; email hello@violationfile.com to request it.

5. Acceptable use

Report buyers may share their own purchased report. Portfolio subscribers may distribute white-labeled reports to their own clients. You may not resell raw report data, scrape the service, or misrepresent Violation File output as your own independent research product.

6. Data freshness

We hold a freshness standard: our dataset is never more than two weeks behind the city's published records. If the pipeline cannot meet that standard, affected subscription time is extended or refunded.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Altshuler Family Holdings LLC is not liable for decisions made using Violation File reports, for indirect or consequential damages, or for amounts exceeding what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
